IHC Directs Exclusion of Shireen Mazari’s Name from PCL Roster

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a significant directive, compelling the relevant authorities to remove the name of former human rights minister Shireen Mazari from the Passport Control List (PCL).

Delivered by IHC Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, the verdict stems from a petition filed by Shireen Mazari herself, urging the elimination of her name from the PCL.

In its ruling, the high court deemed the inclusion of the former minister’s name on the passport control list as both unjust and illegal.

The court specifically instructed the Director General of Immigration to promptly expunge Shireen Mazari’s name from the list. Additionally, authorities are required to furnish a comprehensive report regarding the removal to the Deputy Registrar within a week.

This decision comes after the IHC reserved its verdict on November 21, culminating in a favorable outcome for Mazari. Her petition, presented by her lawyer Barrister Ahsan Jamal Pirzada, targeted the Secretary of Interior and DG FIA, seeking immediate removal from the list.

The ruling holds significant implications for Shireen Mazari, as it clears the way for her to regain unhindered access to passport facilities and travel without the restrictions previously imposed by her inclusion on the PCL.
