IHC orders to release PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi

Shah Mehmood Qureshi released

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the release of senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was arrested last week by capital police.

Following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, several PTI leaders, including Qureshi, were arrested for “inciting violent protests.”

Today, the PTI leader’s bail application was presented to Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. The court asked if there was any registered case against Qureshi, to which the state counsel replied that he would look into it.

The judge, unwilling to “think outside the box,” issued the order for the PTI leader’s release shortly after hearing arguments from both sides. Furthermore, the judge declared null and void the 3 MPO order (power to arrest and detain suspected persons), under which the former minister was detained.
