Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and 27 others have been formally charged in connection with the violent attack on the Army General Headquarters (GHQ). The indictment alleges that the group, led by Raja Basharat, orchestrated the assault, which included breaching the GHQ gates and resisting military personnel. The attackers reportedly caused significant damage using sticks, stones, and petrol bombs, vandalizing military property and raising anti-state slogans.

The charges depict the incident as part of a larger conspiracy, with several individuals apprehended at the scene while others were arrested later. Khan’s legal team is currently seeking permission for him to communicate with his sons, meet with his lawyers, and undergo a medical checkup, pending a decision from the court.
At 72 years old, Imran Khan has been imprisoned for over a year, claiming that the charges against him are politically motivated. Since his arrest in August 2023, Khan and other party leaders have faced more than 200 cases. While he has been acquitted of some major charges, he remains incarcerated despite being granted bail in over two dozen cases.
