LAHORE: The Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique, announced on Monday that the installation of an electric arc furnace at the Steel Shop Mughalpura is on track to be completed by July 25.

During a meeting held at the Pakistan Railways Headquarters in Lahore, the minister expressed optimism that this initiative would enhance the quality and production capacity of the steel shop.

The meeting primarily focused on the progress of the ML-1 project and discussed future strategies in that regard. The participants expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the Sibi-Harnai section.

Rafique directed the relevant authorities to ensure the resumption of Sibi-Harnai train operations. Additionally, updates on the branding of coaches were reviewed during the meeting.

The minister mentioned that a pilot project for branding 15 coaches is scheduled to be launched this month. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the cabinet’s approval of land rules and various aspects of the fiber optic cable policy.
