In response to the government’s decision to ban unregistered VPNs, the Wireless and Internet Service Providers Association has expressed concerns and called for a fair and balanced regulatory framework. In a statement, the association emphasized that VPNs are crucial for ensuring privacy, secure communication, and online accessibility.
The association warned that blanket restrictions could adversely affect key sectors, such as IT exports, financial transactions, and research work, potentially harming the economy and hindering digital growth. While it supports the responsible use of VPNs in line with national laws to prevent misuse, the association urged that policies should not disrupt the activities of law-abiding users.
