Ishaq Dar Says Pakistan's Response Forced Global Ceasefire Push

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has revealed that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes against India led to direct intervention from the international community, helping de-escalate rising tensions in the region.

Speaking to CNN, Dar disclosed that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio contacted him with a ceasefire proposal, saying India was ready to halt hostilities. “If you also stop, this can be resolved,” Rubio reportedly told Dar, who responded by assuring, “If India does not resume hostilities, we won’t either.”

Dar emphasized that Pakistan waited three days before launching its counter-strike, despite Indian missile attacks, and said the unresolved Kashmir issue continues to destabilize South Asia. He issued a stern warning that any attempt by India to tamper with the Indus Waters Treaty or block water would be treated as an act of war.

“India now understands the damage it suffered during the aerial engagement,” Dar claimed, while stressing Pakistan’s desire to resume dialogue based on mutual dignity and respect.
