Authorities in Islamabad have reinforced the ban on political gatherings under Section 144, warning of strict action against violators to ensure public order. The district administration confirmed that the prohibition on public assemblies remains firmly in place and urged citizens to comply with the law.
“Any unauthorised gathering or political activity will be dealt with severely,” a spokesperson said, emphasizing the importance of public safety. Officials have reiterated that no exceptions will be made, urging citizens to avoid participating in illegal assemblies to avoid legal repercussions.

In a related development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has shifted its planned rally from Lahore to Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, scheduled for February 8, marking the first anniversary of the 2024 general elections. PTI had originally requested permission for a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, but the deputy commissioner rejected the request, citing security concerns due to several large-scale events happening in the city.
PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja assured that the rally in Swabi would be peaceful, with no plans for unrest, and protests would be limited to tehsil and union council levels.
