CDA Cracks Down on 99 Illegal Housing Societies in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared 99 housing societies in Islamabad as illegal. Officials confirmed that steps are underway to add the names of their sponsors and owners to the Exit Control List (ECL).

The CDA has also requested NADRA to share information about the individuals involved in these developments.

According to authorities, the process has started to restrict the travel of those linked to these unauthorized projects. This decision came after a recent meeting led by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. In the meeting, it was agreed to take strict legal action against all illegal housing schemes.

Randhawa instructed officials to prepare detailed records of all housing and cooperative societies within the CDA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

He stressed that complete documentation, including layout plans, NOCs, and plot allotments, must be maintained. Special attention will be given to societies selling more files than the actual land they own.

The CDA chairman highlighted a zero-tolerance policy for unauthorized construction and encroachments. He said that illegal developments will be removed to protect Islamabad’s environment and maintain its planned urban structure.

In addition, CDA officials confirmed that action will also target suppliers providing construction materials to these illegal societies. The names of the 99 illegal housing schemes have been published on the CDA’s official website for public awareness.

The authority has urged citizens to verify the legal status of any housing society before investing. This move aims to safeguard buyers from fraud and prevent unplanned urban expansion in the capital.
