Man Tricked into Abduction by Fake Marriage Proposal in Islamabad

A labourer reported missing from the Shalimar police jurisdiction in Islamabad has fallen victim to bandits from the Kacha (riverine) area. He was deceived by an unidentified woman who pretended to seek marriage, leading to his abduction. The kidnappers have demanded Rs20 million and two sets of iPhones from his son for his release.

According to police sources, Afaq Ahmad reported his father, Amjad Mehmood, missing on August 21 after he left home and failed to return.

His father’s phone number was used to make a ransom demand, with a video showing Amjad bound in chains sent via WhatsApp to his son. The abductors threatened that the ransom was necessary to secure his father’s release.

A senior Federal Police officer revealed that Amjad was a poor labourer, whose son had been promising to arrange a marriage for him once they saved enough money. However, Amjad decided to meet the woman who had proposed marriage, leading to his disappearance and subsequent kidnapping by the Kacha bandits.

The police have obtained the abductee’s mobile records and discovered that the woman involved is connected to the Kacha dacoits. The investigation indicates that the labourer has been moved out of Islamabad and into another province, prompting extensive efforts to locate and rescue him.
