Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that the party’s volunteer wing, Ansar-ul-Islam, will assume civil defence duties, pledging that seminary students will stand alongside Pakistan’s armed forces to safeguard the country.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Defence Day, Maulana Fazl praised the Pakistan Army’s courage and called for collective national unity in the face of rising security and geopolitical tensions. He stressed that religious seminaries are fully engaged and their students are ready to contribute to national defence efforts.

The JUI-F leader also revealed plans for Million March rallies in Peshawar on May 11 and Quetta on May 15 to show solidarity with the military. He urged the government to intensify diplomatic efforts with key allies, criticising the current reliance on phone diplomacy as insufficient.
Expressing concern over growing ties between India and Israel, Maulana Fazl called for Pakistan to raise the issue of attacks on Islamic institutions at international forums and demanded a clearer, more assertive foreign policy stance.
