Kamran Lashari, the Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), has submitted his resignation to the Chairperson of the Authority and Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz.
In his resignation letter, Lashari expressed gratitude for his tenure, highlighting his efforts to promote Pakistan’s cultural heritage and enhance its global image.

However, due to personal reasons, he stated he could no longer continue in the role and asked for his resignation to be accepted.
Sources indicate that Lashari’s resignation was influenced by the decision to transfer control of significant Mughal-era landmarks, such as the Shahi Qila (Lahore Fort) and Shalamar Gardens, to the Department of Archaeology.
Additionally, the controversy surrounding the hosting of wedding events at the Lahore Fort, without updating the 1950 heritage protection regulations, is believed to have contributed to his decision.
