Karachi Braces for Rain After Days of Scorching Heat, Says PMD

After enduring days of intense heat and humidity, Karachi residents may finally see relief as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts rainfall, gusty winds, and thunderstorms in parts of the city on Monday.

According to the PMD, weather in the metropolis will remain humid and partly cloudy over the next 24 hours, with temperatures ranging between 36°C and 38°C. Minimum temperature recorded in the past 24 hours was 30°C, and humidity levels remain high at 73%. North-westerly winds are blowing at a mild speed of 3 km/h.

The predicted change in weather is attributed to an active pre-monsoon system that began affecting eastern Sindh on Saturday evening. The Met Office had earlier issued an advisory warning of changing weather patterns, particularly in Karachi and surrounding areas.

Additionally, a separate westerly wave is impacting upper and central regions of the country, bringing the possibility of dust storms, rain, and isolated thundershowers to parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Light to moderate showers have already been reported in cities including Islamabad, Murree, Sialkot, Kalam, Dir, and Rawalakot.
