CM Gandapur Agrees to Bannu Jirga Leaders’ Demands

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has agreed to all the demands made by the Bannu Aman Jirga .This agreement was reached during a meeting earlier this week. The jirga had requested measures such as dismantling armed groups in the province, enhancing police night patrols, allowing the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to conduct search operations, and ensuring that missing persons are presented before courts.

In the meeting, CM Gandapur addressed the concerns of the jirga members and clarified the nature of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, explaining it as a strategic approach to combat terrorism and extremism rather than a traditional military operation. The demands of the jirga will be presented at an upcoming apex committee meeting, where the terms of reference (ToRs) for investigating the Bannu incident will also be discussed.
