Foreign Airline Aircraft Caught Fire At Peshawar Airport

A fire erupted on a foreign airline’s aircraft at Peshawar airport on Thursday. Reports indicate the fire started in the landing gear of Saudi Air flight SV-792 from Riyadh during its landing. Air traffic control alerted authorities about the situation.

Emergency procedures were immediately activated as 276 passengers and a crew of 21 were evacuated swiftly using emergency slides.

Upon landing, rapid response from firefighting teams successfully extinguished the flames engulfing the aircraft. Thankfully, no casualties were reported among passengers or crew. Some minor injuries were treated on-site.

Airport authorities and aviation experts are investigating the exact cause of the fire, which initial reports indicate occurred during the plane’s landing. The incident temporarily disrupted operations at Peshawar airport.

After the incident, the airport closed for 24 hours because the plane was on the taxiway. A Notice to Airmen (Notam) stated the runway will be closed from 10:35 am today until the same time tomorrow. Flights to Peshawar will be redirected to other airports.
