In response to the recent deadly attack on a school bus in Balochistan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has heightened security protocols across all educational institutions within the province.
A security advisory has been issued across KP, with special focus on schools located in Peshawar and other high-risk areas. The education department, working closely with district administrations and law enforcement agencies, has launched an emergency plan to protect students, teachers, and school staff. Education Special Secretary Qaiser Alam stated that directives have been dispatched to all district education officers (DEOs) and school principals to conduct thorough security evaluations of their facilities.
“All necessary resources will be used to protect our children and educators,” said Alam. “We are developing a collaborative security plan alongside the district administration and police.”

As per the new security measures, schools are now required to enforce rigorous screening at both internal and external gates. Campuses must be manned by trained security personnel and equipped with CCTV cameras for 24/7 monitoring.
Furthermore, schools have been directed to organize awareness sessions educating students on safety procedures. Every institution must also put in place an emergency response system, complete with a clear evacuation strategy in case of any threat.
The heightened alert follows a tragic bombing incident on Wednesday in Khuzdar, where a suicide attacker targeted a school bus traveling on the Karachi-Quetta National Highway near Zero Point. At least five people, including three children, lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries.
According to officials, the bomb had been placed inside a vehicle parked along the road and was detonated remotely just as the school bus passed by. The attack occurred in the busy Zero Point area, a critical junction on the highway. Investigations are ongoing to identify the explosives used and the individuals responsible.
