The K Soft Power Seminar 2025 took place on April 17, 2025, at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with NUML, highlighting the growing cultural connection between Korea and Pakistan.
His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, delivered opening remarks where he emphasized the warm friendship between the two nations. He acknowledged the immense popularity of Korean dramas and music among Pakistani audiences and noted how culture acts as a powerful tool for building deeper cross-border understanding and goodwill.
Brigadier (Retd.) Shehzad Munir HI(M), Director General of NUML, also addressed the gathering. He praised the positive impact of Korean soft power on Pakistan and highlighted NUML’s Korean Language Department, the King Sejong Institute, as a clear example of this cultural exchange. He further pointed out the deep interest Pakistani youth have in Korean culture, which has helped strengthen bilateral ties.
The seminar featured several distinguished speakers, including Ms. Alex Choi, Team Lead for Global Business Strategy at the Korea Creative Content Agency. She emphasized the potential for cultural collaboration, given Pakistan’s large and youthful population.
Mr. Zahid Hussain, a prominent Pakistani broadcaster based in Korea and President of the Global Korea Scholarship Alumni, also shared his insights. Other key attendees included Mr. Ihtisham Hussain, Head of the Korean Language Department, and Dr. Atif Faraz, Director of Iksi.
The seminar attracted a large number of students and was met with great enthusiasm. Attendees appreciated the engaging content, and souvenirs were distributed to commemorate the event. The success of the seminar once again highlighted the strong and growing bond between Korea and Pakistan through the lens of culture and soft power.
