As part of the preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, Lahore is gearing up to open 10 model bazaars across the city. These markets are designed to offer citizens discounted, high-quality goods during the busy shopping season. The initiative, led by the district administration, aims to ensure that essential items are both affordable and readily available for the public.
At a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore, Syed Musa Raza, detailed plans for the Ramadan bazaars were finalized. Each of the 10 bazaars will feature 10 shops, with seven of them dedicated to selling fruits, vegetables, pulses, spices, and other essential goods, while the remaining three will focus on meat products. To enhance the shopping experience, separate counters will be set up for women, senior citizens, and regular shoppers, ensuring easy access and efficiency.

The initiative aims to provide goods at wholesale rates, with prices regulated by the Market Committee. Vendors will be supplied products at these rates, which in turn will allow them to offer items at reduced prices to customers. DC Lahore emphasized the importance of maintaining quality while keeping costs down, and instructed that preparations for the markets be completed by February 24, well ahead of Ramadan.
The government has also assured citizens that adequate parking and cleanliness arrangements will be in place to ensure a hassle-free shopping experience. This effort aligns with the broader commitment made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to provide essential food items at affordable prices during Ramadan, stressing the need for cooperation between federal and provincial authorities to ease the burden on the public.
