Monsoon Disaster Causes 245 Deaths Across Country. Check out Provincial Updates

The recent monsoon rains and floods across the country have caused the tragic loss of 245 lives from July 1st to August 27th, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Punjab experienced the highest toll with 92 fatalities, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 74 deaths. Sindh reported 47 fatalities, Balochistan 22, while Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan recorded 6 and 4 deaths respectively. Among the deceased, 121 were children and 48 were women, with 446 people injured.

The NDMA report also details significant property and infrastructure damage. A total of 1,002 houses were completely destroyed, and 3,475 were partially damaged. Public infrastructure suffered as well, with 8 schools and 35 bridges affected. Additionally, 609 cattle were lost, further impacting the economic stability of affected communities. The NDMA continues to coordinate with provincial authorities to provide assistance to those affected.
