The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, declared that the new moon for the month of Muharram was not sighted. This announcement came after their meeting in Quetta, where Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad stated that no reliable reports of moon sighting were received from any part of the country.

As a result, the Islamic New Year will begin after the completion of the current lunar month.

Consequently, Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram, will be observed on Wednesday, July 17th. Ashura holds profound religious significance for Muslims, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions at the Battle of Karbala.

Earlier, the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Islamabad also confirmed that the crescent moon of Muharram was not sighted. During their session to observe the moon, no credible evidence of moon sighting was reported from Islamabad or its surroundings.

Thus, the meeting of the Zonal Sighting of the Crescent Committee concluded without confirmation of moon visibility.
