NHA May Introduce Helicopter Rescue Service for Motorways

The National Highway Authority (NHA) is enhancing road safety with new measures to reduce motorway accidents. Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, led discussions on improving emergency response services.

One key proposal is a helicopter rescue service to provide rapid medical aid at accident sites, complementing the existing 1122 emergency helpline. Khan also called for better transparency in government spending and the development of a five-year action plan for highway improvements.

Additionally, modernizing toll collection systems and drafting a National Transport Policy are on the agenda to streamline operations and enhance travel efficiency.
