In a recent telephone conversation, Pakistan and Bangladesh engaged in discussions aimed at calming rising tensions in South Asia triggered by what Pakistan describes as India’s “unfounded allegations” and unilateral moves. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister informed Bangladesh’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs, Md. Touhid Hossain, about concerns regarding India’s abrupt suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty provisions.
The Pakistani foreign minister voiced serious apprehensions over India’s actions, cautioning that such decisions could destabilize the region. He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues through dialogue to prevent further escalation.

Adviser Hossain of Bangladesh responded by urging restraint from all sides. He highlighted the immediate need for de-escalation to safeguard regional peace and stability, advocating for diplomatic channels as the preferred solution.
Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering Pakistan-Bangladesh relations. They agreed to continue high-level engagements and discussed expanding cooperation in regional and international platforms to address shared challenges.
