Pakistan Calls for Arrest of Militant Hafiz Gul Bahadur Following Bannu Attack

Pakistan has officially demanded the arrest and extradition of militant Hafiz Gul Bahadur from Afghanistan in the wake of the November 26 attack on security forces in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In response to the heinous assault, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a representative from the Afghan Embassy to express vehement condemnation towards the terror attack. The outlawed Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group claimed responsibility for the assault, prompting Pakistan to urge Afghanistan to conduct a thorough investigation and take decisive action against the perpetrators and accomplices involved in the Bannu attack.

The Foreign Office has called upon the neighboring country to swiftly take verifiable measures against all terrorist factions and their hideouts. Emphasizing the urgency, Pakistan urged Afghanistan to prevent the utilization of its soil for orchestrating terrorist activities directed at Pakistan.

The tragic incident on November 26 resulted in the loss of two lives and left ten individuals wounded, including three soldiers, following a suicide bombing by an Afghan assailant near a convoy of security forces in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) disclosed that the suicide bomber, linked to the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, orchestrated the attack in the Bakka Khel area.

This group, identified as an offshoot of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), remains implicated in the assault that targeted Pakistani security personnel, fueling concerns about cross-border security threats and the need for immediate action to counter such militant activities.
