Shahzad Arshad, Chairman of WISPAP, expressed grave concerns, highlighting the country’s vulnerabilities and the need for a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul rather than temporary fixes. He stressed the importance of establishing multi-gigabit Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) across telecom regions to protect the digital economy, similar to measures in developed nations.

Arshad noted that government representatives have indicated that the internet issues might persist longer than expected, prompting demands from various sectors for a robust plan to prevent future disruptions. The crisis has sparked a critical discussion on the sustainability and resilience of Pakistan’s internet infrastructure.
