Pakistan has formally requested monkeypox vaccines from global health organizations, as the country currently lacks the vaccines and treatment options needed to combat the viral infection.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared a health emergency due to the global monkeypox outbreak. With recent cases reported in Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, local authorities have issued advisories to manage potential risks.

Health experts in Pakistan have confirmed that no monkeypox vaccine is available in the country. Officials have stated that the vaccine will be administered only to airport screening staff and ICU personnel, considering it unnecessary for the general public.

Monkeypox, a viral infection, can be transmitted from animals to humans and between humans within close proximity. Early symptoms include fever, headaches, muscle pain, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes, underscoring the urgency of international support to prevent further spread.
