Pakistan Targets Doubling IT Exports to Saudi Arabia Amid Emerging AI Opportunities

Pakistan is set to boost its exports of IT and IT-enabled services to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), aiming to increase the current $50 million to $100 million. This growth comes as major Pakistani IT companies strengthen their presence in the brotherly nation. The expansion is fueled by Saudi Arabia’s ambitious $100 billion project for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data infrastructure, unveiled in November 2024.

The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) is leading this charge, with Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Umair Nizam emphasizing a strong export strategy that explores non-traditional markets like Saudi Arabia. He noted that Pakistan doubled its IT exports to KSA last year and is now aggressively working to scale up these exports manifold in the coming months.

Collaboration among various Pakistani stakeholders, including the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT) and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), is driving the push for joint ventures and consortiums. This united front aims to capitalize on Saudi Arabia’s growing tech landscape, particularly through events like LEAP 2025 in Riyadh, where over 1,000 Pakistani delegates will be present to showcase the country’s IT capabilities.

With Saudi Arabia easing registration processes for Pakistani firms and providing a dedicated help desk, more than 100 Pakistani tech entities have already entered the market. The LEAP 2025 event is expected to foster numerous business deals and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), providing a golden opportunity for Pakistan’s IT sector to further cement its foothold in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
