Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has claimed that Pakistan played a key role in the recent Iran-Israel ceasefire. Speaking at a high-level meeting with religious scholars, he hinted at the involvement of the Pakistan Army in the peace process.
Naqvi said, “There is Wardi behind the Iran-Israel ceasefire as well,” referring to Pakistan’s military. His statement suggests that the army took part in backdoor diplomacy to help end tensions between the two rival nations.
The ceasefire between Iran and Israel came after a 12-day conflict. It was announced shortly after Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir met with U.S. President Donald Trump. This timing has raised questions about Pakistan’s influence in regional peace efforts.
According to Naqvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also played an important role in encouraging the ceasefire. He said the peace agreement reflects Pakistan’s rising status as a neutral player in international diplomacy.
Naqvi also discussed a past military exchange with India. He stated that Pakistan avoided civilian casualties during the conflict. He claimed that one of Pakistan’s missiles hit an oil depot while civilian areas were spared.
He further added that India launched several missiles, but none struck their target. “With Allah’s help, we were victorious,” he said. Naqvi mentioned that the country now celebrates Independence Day with greater passion.
Returning to domestic issues, Naqvi stressed unity during Muharram. He praised the role of religious scholars in maintaining peace and called for stronger cooperation in terrorism-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Iran-Israel ceasefire not only reflects regional de-escalation but also points to Pakistan’s growing role in conflict resolution. As Naqvi noted, the ceasefire was not just a political move but possibly supported by quiet efforts from Pakistan’s military leadership.
Such claims bring new attention to Pakistan’s position in Middle East peace talks and the broader impact of the Iran-Israel ceasefire.
