Pakistan's Textile Exports Jump 6% to $1.44 Billion in October 2023

In October 2023, Pakistan’s textile exports recorded a 6% year-on-year increase, reaching $1.44 billion compared to $1.356 billion in October 2022, as reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

However, the country’s overall textile group exports saw a decline of approximately 6.33% in the first four months (July-October) of the current fiscal year, amounting to $5.565 billion compared to $5.940 billion in the same period of 2022-23.

On a month-on-month basis, textile exports in October 2023 exhibited a 5.61% growth, standing at $1.437 billion, up from $1.360 billion in September 2023.

Pakistan’s total exports for October fiscal year 2023-24 were $9.6 billion (provisional), reflecting a marginal decrease of 0.48% compared to $9.554 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Cotton yarn exports during the first four months of the current fiscal year increased by 42.85%, reaching $407.564 million compared to $285.315 million in the same period last fiscal year.

Rice exports also experienced a notable growth of 30.12% during the first four months of the current fiscal year, standing at $710.788 million compared to $546.261 million.

The major commodities contributing to exports in October 2023 were Knitwear, Readymade garments, Bedwear, Rice Others, Cotton Cloth, Oil seeds, nuts and kernels, Towels, Cotton Yarn, Rice basmati, and Madeup articles (excluding towels & bedwear).
