Petroleum Product Production Rises 8% in FY24 H1

During July-December 2023-24, the production of petroleum products experienced a notable increase of 8.40 percent, with its indices rising to 95.99 from 88.55 recorded during the same period in 2022-23. Additionally, in December, there was a substantial increase of 17.85 percent in petroleum products production.

Specifically, high-speed diesel observed a growth of 12.83 percent, with output reaching 2.708 billion liters in July-December 2023-24 compared to 2.4 billion liters in July-December 2022-23.

Similarly, furnace oil production surged by 18.92 percent during the same period, reaching 1.381 billion liters compared to 1.161 billion liters previously. However, jet fuel oil saw a decline of 11.58 percent, with production totaling 397.039 million liters in July-December 2023-24, down from 449.022 million liters in July-December 2022-23.

Kerosene oil production experienced a growth of 5.63 percent, reaching 48.907 million liters in July-December 2023-24 compared to 46.299 million liters in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Furthermore, cement production witnessed a modest growth of 1.95 percent during July-December 2023-24, with output totaling 21.072 million tons compared to 20.669 million tons in July-December 2022-23, as per data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
