PIA Employees Seek Better Life in Canada, More Reported 'Missing'

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is once again facing scrutiny as two more cabin crew members have gone missing, failing to report back for duty after landing in Canada. This incident adds to a series of similar occurrences involving PIA cabin crew members, particularly on flights bound for Canada.

A spokesperson for PIA stated that they have approached local authorities and initiated an investigation into the matter. The airline intends to take strict action against the cabin crew members who have gone missing.

This is not the first time such incidents have been reported, with Canada-bound flights from PIA experiencing a notable number of cases. In July of the same year, a steward from PIA went missing from a hotel in Toronto. Similar incidents were reported last year, leading to the dismissal of one crew member by PIA.

In 2021, PIA implemented directives for its cabin crew, including the confiscation of passports upon arrival abroad. According to the guidelines, the station manager would hold the passports of cabin crew members after they cleared immigration and customs checks in other countries. Despite these measures, the airline continues to grapple with cabin crew members slipping away, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the implemented protocols.
