A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight steward, Faisal Majeed, has been caught attempting to smuggle 16 expensive mobile phones upon his arrival in Islamabad from Canada on flight PK-782. The phones were found wrapped around his body during a customs check, according to PIA’s administration.

Following this incident, PIA issued Majeed a show-cause notice, warning that failing to provide a satisfactory explanation could result in his termination. The notice stated that his actions had “damaged the reputation of PIA.”
This case mirrors a previous smuggling attempt in May 2023, when customs officials intercepted a passenger at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport carrying over 35 high-end mobile phones worth approximately Rs10 million.
