Plea Against Nawaz Set for Hearing

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled the hearing for an application against PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif for his alleged anti-judiciary speeches. The hearing is set for November 15, with the Chief Justice of IHC presiding over the case. The application, filed by a citizen named Adnan Iqbal, has been pending since 2018.

Nawaz Sharif recently returned to Pakistan on October 21, after spending four years in self-imposed exile in London. His homecoming coincides with the lead-up to high-stakes general elections in the country, setting the stage for an intense political showdown.

Prior to his return, Nawaz was granted protective bail in two graft cases, and arrest warrants in another case were suspended, facilitating his smooth return to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan expressed condemnation for what he described as the “complete collapse of the justice system.” He asserted that Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country was the execution of a London “agreement” and a “total mockery of the law.” Imran emphasized that allowing a convicted criminal to return to politics with a clean slate would require undermining state institutions, leading to a profound breakdown of the justice system.
