PM eyes IWT, Kashmir resolution after India ceasefire

ISLAMABAD: Following a successful ceasefire, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan hopes to settle long-standing issues like Kashmir and water disputes with India through dialogue. In a national address, he hailed Pakistan’s military response to Indian aggression as historic and thanked the armed forces, political leadership, and allied nations for their support.

The PM emphasized that Pakistan initially exercised restraint after the Pahalgam incident but had to respond after repeated provocations, leading to Operation Bunyan-al-Marsous. He praised the armed forces for neutralizing threats and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty and peace.

President Asif Zardari and top political leaders backed the military’s actions, calling them necessary and decisive. Both the PM and president emphasized the need for resolving the Kashmir issue under UN resolutions and called for peaceful coexistence.

Gratitude was extended to leaders of China, the US, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and others for facilitating the ceasefire. The premier stressed the importance of national unity as Pakistan turns its focus to progress and regional peace.
