On this year’s World Health Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his government’s dedication to providing quality medical facilities to all citizens of the country. Emphasizing the theme of the day, “My health, my right,” the Prime Minister highlighted every citizen’s entitlement to excellent health services.
He pledged to focus on enhancing primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare, medical education, preventive healthcare, and governance, as promised in the PML-N manifesto. The government aims to expand and upgrade health facilities, introduce mobile health clinics for better access, revitalize immunization programs, and enhance mental health services in collaboration with provincial governments.

PM Shehbaz highlighted the government’s priority to establish and operate medical facilities such as Medical City, Cancer Care Hospital, and Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute in each province. He also commended the launch of the Health Card during the PML-N’s previous tenure, emphasizing the commitment to universal health coverage and insurance for low and middle-income families. Acknowledging the dedication of healthcare professionals, paramedics, nurses, and other staff, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the commitment to transform Pakistan’s healthcare sector, ensuring quality healthcare for every citizen.
In addition to health initiatives, PM Shehbaz formed a committee to review climate change governance and mechanisms. The committee, chaired by the Planning Commission deputy chairman, includes government officials, parliamentarians, civil society representatives, environmental NGOs, private sector, research institutes, and experts. It will assess existing and proposed institutional mechanisms, policies, and approaches to mainstream climate considerations, integrate them into the development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and mobilize climate finance from various sources, including private capital and multilateral development banks.
