PM Shehbaz Hails 26th Constitutional Amendment as Milestone for Stability

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday lauded the passing of the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill, calling it a significant step towards the country’s political and economic stability. He noted that the bill, passed with a two-thirds majority in parliament, would benefit the public by expediting justice and alleviating their burdens.

Addressing the federal cabinet, the prime minister praised the extensive consultations between the ruling coalition and opposition parties, stating that the amendment fulfilled the vision of the Charter of Democracy, originally signed by Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif in 2006. He expressed gratitude to leaders like Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for their support.

Shehbaz also highlighted Pakistan’s successful hosting of the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) in Islamabad, boosting the nation’s global image. He acknowledged the contributions of the foreign ministry, law enforcement, and the Capital Development Authority for ensuring the event’s success.

On the economy, the prime minister pointed out declining inflation and policy rates, indicating signs of recovery. He also condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, urging support for relief efforts led by his government.
