PM Shehbaz Proposes 19-Member Cabinet to President Zardari

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has recommended 19 names to President Asif Ali Zardari for induction into the federal cabinet, according to a summary forwarded to the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The federal cabinet is scheduled to take its oath today at 3 pm at the President House.

The recommended individuals for federal ministries include PML-N lawmakers such as Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Rana Tanveer, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Jam Kamal Khan, Amir Muqam, Awais Leghari, and Attaullah Tarar. Additionally, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui from MQM-P and Abdul Aleem Khan from Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party are also on the list.

Senators Ishaq Dar and Musadik Malik, whose Senate term ends tomorrow, have been recommended for appointment as federal ministers. Furthermore, three more names have been recommended for induction as federal ministers: Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

Shaza Fatima is the only woman recommended for inclusion in the federal cabinet. She is set to take oath as a state minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication.

The swearing-in of the federal cabinet follows Prime Minister Shehbaz’s oath-taking as the 24th premier of the country last week and President Zardari’s oath-taking as the head of state. The initial cabinet is relatively small, with more ministers expected to be inducted in the second phase.
