PM Shehbaz Vows Strong Action Against Disruptions to Pakistan’s Progress

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the recent protests in Islamabad, emphasizing the need for decisive actions to prevent further disruptions to Pakistan’s development. Speaking at a federal cabinet meeting, he credited the military for supporting the swift resolution of the unrest and vowed that those responsible would no longer be allowed to destabilize the nation.

The prime minister highlighted the severe economic repercussions of the protests, noting that businesses, workers, and daily wage earners had suffered significant losses. He pointed to the shutdown of shops and factories, which left many unable to earn a living, and stressed that the protests had caused major disruptions in daily life and had a damaging effect on the economy, with the stock market witnessing a sharp decline.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that the government would take strong measures to prevent any further unrest, stressing that Pakistan’s progress cannot be held back by protests and violence. He questioned whether the nation would prioritize economic recovery and development or continue to face the setbacks caused by protest politics.

The prime minister also acknowledged the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies and expressed his gratitude for their efforts in restoring order. Additionally, he raised concerns about terrorism in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and urged the provincial government to focus on securing the region.
