Pollen Surge in Islamabad Triggers Allergy Spike

Islamabad has recently witnessed a sharp rise in pollen levels, with the count reaching an alarming 45,916. This surge has caused a significant increase in residents seeking medical care, particularly those with asthma and respiratory issues.

The rising pollen count has led to heightened concerns among healthcare professionals. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest levels were recorded in Sector H-8, with G-6, E-8, and F-10 also reporting elevated levels. Medical experts warn that individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions are at greater risk, and the surge could lead to more severe health complications if proper precautions are not taken.

Doctors have urged residents, especially those with pollen allergies, to take preventive measures such as wearing masks and staying indoors during peak pollen hours. The presence of high pollen in the air is particularly harmful to people suffering from asthma and can cause considerable discomfort for allergy sufferers.

Pollen allergies, commonly referred to as “hay fever,” occur when pollen particles from flowers, trees, and grass trigger allergic reactions in the body. Symptoms such as sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose, and headaches are prevalent during pollen season. Medical professionals recommend preventive steps, including staying indoors, keeping windows closed, and using antihistamines when necessary.

With the pollen count continuing to rise, experts stress the importance of timely medical attention and proactive measures to protect against severe allergic reactions.
