The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a dual revision in electricity tariffs, offering relief to consumers in Karachi while raising rates slightly for the rest of the country. The adjustments, based on fuel cost variations, will reflect in electricity bills for June 2025.
Karachi residents will see a tariff reduction of Rs2.99 per unit under the fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for March 2025. This translates to a financial relief of over Rs4 billion for K-Electric consumers. However, the reduction will not apply to lifeline, protected, EV charging stations, or prepaid users.

Conversely, power consumers across other regions will face a Rs0.93 per unit increase due to April’s fuel price adjustment. This hike will similarly exclude lifeline, protected, EVCS, and prepaid tariff consumers.
Nepra clarified that the changes will be shown separately in monthly bills, calculated on the actual units consumed during the relevant months. These periodic adjustments are part of the authority’s ongoing mechanism to reflect global fuel price trends in domestic power tariffs.
