The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has directed its Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) to vote in favor of the federal budget during today’s pivotal budget session, following the government’s acceptance of several of the party’s major proposals.
The decision was finalized during a PPP parliamentary party meeting in the National Assembly, chaired by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and attended by all party lawmakers, including Asifa Bhutto Zardari. During the meeting, Bilawal was briefed on the finalized budget, which now includes multiple PPP-endorsed amendments.

Among the accepted proposals is a 20% increase in funding for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), a significant expansion aimed at supporting low-income households. Additionally, taxes on solar panels have been slashed by nearly 50%, and controversial amendments concerning the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have been dropped.
The government has also agreed to raise government employee salaries by 10% and pensions by 7%, while easing income tax burdens on salaried individuals. Another key win for the PPP is the restoration of federal funding for public universities in Sindh.
With these changes in place, the PPP has thrown its weight behind the Finance Bill, which is expected to be passed in today’s National Assembly session.
