Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in Baku for Two-Day Official Visit

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday for a two-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between the two nations.

Upon his arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the prime minister was warmly welcomed by senior Azerbaijani officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Abdulla oglu Eyyubov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev, and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farkhadov. Pakistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, along with other dignitaries, was also present to receive him.

During his stay, PM Shehbaz Sharif will engage in high-level meetings with President Ilham Aliyev and other senior Azerbaijani officials. The discussions will center on bolstering bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, enhancing energy cooperation, and working together to tackle climate change. Defense collaboration and cultural exchanges will also be key points of discussion.

Several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the visit, further solidifying the partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Additionally, the prime minister will address the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum on Monday, bringing together business leaders from both countries to explore trade, joint ventures, and investment opportunities.

Accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and other senior officials, PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepening their longstanding relationship.

Upon landing, the prime minister tweeted, “Landed in the beautiful city of Baku, where the past and future converge in a vibrant embrace. The city looks even more enchanting under a blanket of snow!” He expressed optimism about the discussions ahead, aimed at further strengthening Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations and boosting trade and investment.

This visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to fostering economic growth and regional cooperation.
