Sher Afzal Marwat, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was arrested on Thursday and taken to Golra police station in Islamabad, according to officials. His arrest occurred as PTI workers were arriving at Tarnol for a planned rally, which was subsequently postponed.
The arrest comes amid rising tensions as PTI continues its public mobilization despite facing legal challenges. Earlier in the day, PTI had to delay its scheduled rally at Tarnol Chowk in Islamabad, which is now set for September 8.

The decision to postpone was made after senior PTI leaders Omar Ayub Khan, Azam Swati, and Barrister Gohar met with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. Following the meeting, the leaders confirmed the delay and announced the new rally date.
Azam Swati and Barrister Gohar, speaking outside the jail, stated that the rally would proceed on September 8 with appropriate security measures. Aamir Mughal, leading PTI’s Islamabad chapter, will handle the necessary permissions for the event.
