Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court requesting a postponement of the upcoming hearing in the intra-party election review case. The case, set to be heard by a special three-member bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Friday, involves PTI’s internal party elections.
The reason for the request is that PTI’s lead counsel, Advocate Hamid Khan, has a family commitment in Lahore on the day of the hearing, rendering him unavailable to appear before the court. The petition informs opposing counsel of Hamid Khan’s unavailability and seeks to delay the hearing.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Isa, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Justice Ayesha Malik, was scheduled to hear the case, which has already faced several delays. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has expressed frustration over these delays, attributing the postponements to PTI’s repeated requests for more time.
PTI conducted its last intra-party elections on March 3, 2024, but issues with the process led to the ECP’s intervention, culminating in a notice issued on April 23, 2024. Since then, multiple hearings have taken place, with PTI repeatedly seeking extensions, causing a six-month delay in the case.
