The educational boards in Punjab are planning to conduct matriculation exams in English for both science and arts streams starting in 2025. The move aims to improve students’ English skills and align educational standards with global norms. As part of this policy, the gradual removal of Urdu from question papers will ensure a uniform language medium across all subjects.

Additionally, starting in 2026, all optional subjects for FA exams will also be conducted in English. The policy is awaiting formal approval, and concerns have been raised about potential challenges arising from the language transition, emphasizing the need for teacher training and support for students.
