The Punjab government has extended the Chief Minister’s Free Wi-Fi service to more areas, particularly in Lahore, where the number of free Wi-Fi hotspots has increased from 200 to 230. The service has also been upgraded to Wi-Fi 6 technology, offering faster and more reliable internet access for users.
The Safe Cities Authority is currently offering free Wi-Fi at 300 locations across 11 districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Gujrat, and Attock. Plans are underway to expand the service across the entire province, with more areas to benefit soon.

To date, more than 17.7 million users have accessed the service, utilizing 438 terabytes of data. Many residents have expressed satisfaction, noting that the free Wi-Fi has made daily activities more convenient and accessible.
A spokesperson for the service confirmed that while the free Wi-Fi is intended primarily for emergency use, it has made a significant difference in people’s lives. The project is part of a larger effort by the Punjab government to transform the region into a digital hub.
