Punjab Govt’s Unexpected News to Families of Deceased Govt Workers

The Punjab government has recently announced significant revisions in its policies regarding support for the families of deceased government employees. In a noteworthy notification, the interim government in this densely populated region has restructured its approach towards aiding the kin of deceased officials.

One of the most striking changes pertains to the cessation of job offers to the families of deceased government employees. The previously designated job quota, specifically allocated for the children of these employees, has been abolished. Instead, the government has chosen to focus on modifying the financial aid structure for families coping with the loss of a government employee during their service tenure.

A departure from prior practices, the new regulations no longer include provisions for employment opportunities for widows or children of deceased government employees. However, recognizing the need for enhanced support, the government has revamped the financial assistance provided to these families under revised rates.

To address this shift, the government has made amendments to Rule 17-A Employment. These amendments signify substantial increments in the compensation amounts designated for the families of deceased government employees. This thoughtful revision aims to provide a more robust financial safety net for the bereaved families during these challenging times.

The government remains committed to supporting the families of deceased government employees and believes that these revised measures will ensure more comprehensive assistance to those affected by the loss of their loved ones in service to the nation.

This new direction reflects the government’s dedication to adapting policies to better address the evolving needs of its employees’ families, underscoring its commitment to their well-being during difficult circumstances.

Revised Financial Assistance Rates for Punjab Government Employees:

  • For employees ranging from scale 1 to 4, family members will receive between Rs1.6 million to Rs5 million.
  • Employees falling within grades 5 to 10 will now receive Rs7.5 million in compensation.
  • Families of employees graded 11 to 15 are entitled to Rs10 million.
  • Those within scale 16 and 17 will receive Rs10.5 million.
  • Employees in scale 18 and 19 categories will benefit from increased compensation rates of Rs20 million.
