Punjab Information Minister Criticizes PTI for Poor Turnout at Swabi Rally

Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari has strongly criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for failing to gather a sizable crowd at its recent rally in Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). According to Bukhari, despite utilizing official resources, the party struggled to attract even 5,000 attendees, reflecting public disinterest in PTI’s politics of “unrest and chaos.”

Bukhari alleged that government employees were forced to attend the rally, yet turnout remained disappointing. She further remarked on the political failures of PTI leaders, saying, “Junaid Akbar has failed his first political test miserably, while Ali Amin Gandapur once again resorted to crudeness to please PTI’s founder.”

Highlighting Punjab’s development initiatives, Bukhari stated that the youth in the province are benefiting from schemes like electric bikes and scholarships. She expressed hope that K-P’s youth would soon receive similar opportunities, announcing that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz plans to introduce scholarships for students in the province.

Bukhari also referenced the failed uprisings of May 9 and November 26, claiming the public is tired of PTI’s protest-driven politics. She asserted that Pakistan is now on a path to recovery under the leadership of the Sharif family.

PTI’s rally in Swabi on February 8 was held to observe “Black Day,” marking one year since the party claimed its mandate was stolen in the general elections. The event, attended by K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and other leaders, highlighted PTI’s grievances over the election results.
