The Punjab government is set to table a new law in the provincial assembly to establish the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Treatment and Research Institute. A draft of the proposed act has been finalized by the health department, detailing the hospital’s structure and operational framework.
According to the draft, the institute will be managed by a 13-member board chaired by the chief minister. The facility will offer free treatment to underprivileged cancer patients, while others will receive care through subsidized or full-fee models.

Significantly, staff employed at the institute will not be classified as government employees. The hospital will also be permitted to raise funds through donations to support its operations and services.
The administrative structure includes key roles such as Chairman, Dean, Administrator, and Directors for Nursing and Finance. The act is expected to be presented in the Punjab Assembly soon for formal approval.
