Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered an increase in security measures across the province, particularly in Lahore, due to the current tense situation in the country. In a statement issued on Thursday, the IGP confirmed that all law enforcement agencies are on high alert, with comprehensive operational, strategic, and logistical preparations in place to manage any potential emergencies.
Dr. Anwar reassured the public that the Punjab Police is fully equipped to ensure peace and safety, with immediate response teams ready for any unforeseen incidents. “We are closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to tackle any challenge swiftly,” he said. The IGP also mentioned that the police are collaborating closely with the district administration, Civil Defense, and Rescue 1122 to maintain law and order and to provide assistance if necessary.

This heightened security comes after a dramatic incident in Lahore where an Indian spy drone was shot down near Walton Airport. The drone, which was carrying explosives, was being operated from across the border and was reportedly very close to sensitive buildings before it was neutralized. Multiple explosions were heard in the area, causing panic among residents, although no casualties were reported.
As part of the increased security measures, the Punjab Police has also intensified patrols and surveillance around key locations, including inter-provincial border police posts, to prevent any further threats. Authorities continue to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding public safety across the region.
