The Punjab School Education Department has announced the reopening of neglected government schools, reallocating staff from previously outsourced schools back to government-run institutions. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat Khan revealed that over 26,000 teachers will be deployed across 1,961 schools without new recruitments.
The minister explained that outsourcing had led to the elimination of 43,960 staff positions, leaving many schools understaffed. To address this, surplus teachers from some schools will be transferred to those experiencing shortages, ensuring balanced staffing across the province.

Rana Sikandar Hayat highlighted that despite these schools existing for over ten years, no new teachers were appointed during that time. Now, each tehsil in Punjab will see an increase of 15 to 20 government schools as part of the restructuring plan.
The Punjab Finance Department has approved this strategy, allowing the School Education Department to proceed with the staff redeployment using only the existing pool of teachers. This move aims to strengthen the public education system without additional hiring.
