Fifth Semester Girl Commits Suicide at Punjab University Hostel in Lahore

A fifth-semester student from the Institute of Education and Research (IER) at Punjab University reportedly committed suicide in her hostel room on Sunday.

The student, identified as Umme Habiba, was staying in room 74 of hostel number 08 with her sister but ended her life by hanging herself in her friend’s room, number 91.

The hostel warden found her body hanging from the ceiling fan after breaking into the room. Following the discovery, authorities were notified, and female police officers began investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

In a separate incident, Punjab police on Sunday arrested a security guard from a private college in Lahore’s Gulberg area for allegedly raping a student.

According to the DIG Operations, the suspect went into hiding after the news spread on social media but was apprehended within 10 hours in a nearby city.

Police are currently working to locate the victim and her family, and legal proceedings are in progress.
